I'm thinking about getting a 42 inch plasma tv. Is that big enough?
Right now have a 57 inch screen projector tv and I wanna increase the space in my living room so I wanna get a flatscreen plasma tv to hang on the wall. The one I want is 42 inches. Is that big enough for a living room or should I stick with the old school big screen ?
Depends on the size of the wad of cash in your wallet and maybe not a good idea if your pad is the size of a cuboard otherwise bigger the better av got a big one

Is there something wrong with the TV you currently have? If not then I would suggest sticking with it since dropping down to a 42" tv is going to be a big change. Then again, having the extra space is a big bonus.
I would suggest that you get some cardboard boxes and cut out squares of both a 42" and a 50" and tape them to the wall. That way you can see which you prefer without spending the money upfront to find out.

Rule of thumb: sit 3 to 6 screen lenghts from the television, so if your living room is 10 feet (from screen to seats), go with the 42-inch, if it's 20 feet, go with a larger screen size.
I personally say 4 times the screen size seems to give you the best picture. I've got a living room from screen to couches that is just over 10 feet and I've got a 40-inch LCD and it looks perfect. But when I tilt it so I can watch from the kitchen it's a littel more blurry (30 feet away instead of 10). Although that could be my eyes
