Question by : Are LED and LCD tv’s categorized under “plasma screen TVs”? If they’re not, then how are they related?

No. A plasma screen consists of a bank of tiny gas-filled cells that illuminate and change color when controlling voltages are applied.
An LCD screen is a bank of liquid crystals, like a digital watch, that form a picture with the application of controlling voltages. They give off no light, so they are illuminated from behind by a backlight. In older or cheaper sets, generally referred to as “LCD,” the backlight is a fluorescent lamp.
An “LED” set is exactly the same as an LCD set, except the backlight is an array of light emitting diodes.
