Computer flat screen panel display (monitor) flashing on and off?

We have went through two flat screen panel displays now. Each night we turn off our screen instead of the computer to put less stress on our computers. Our current flat panel display has been flashing on and off, sometimes so fast that it is blinks of light. We have checked all our connections and everything and still nothing has changed. It chooses when to flash and when not too. It is pure luck and chance to have a working computer every time we turn on the screen, turn it off, or just leave it alone over night.

What could be causing this?

How can we fix this besides getting another new flat panel display?

We have a samsung 19″.
When it flashes, it goes black, then normal, black, then normal.

My guess is that the problem lies in turning off the monitor without turning off the computer.
When you turn the monitor back on it already has a full signal input without being fully powered up.
The flashing on and off is typical of bad capacitors on the monitor's power board.
The attempt to draw power for the display from a cold board is probably ruining the capacitors which is why you have to keep replacing the monitors.
This is why the monitor is usually turned on, before the computer is started.

Thank you! I have the same problem with my screen flashing and flickering when I turn it on. It stops when it gets “warmed up”. This makes complete sense now.

I have the same issue. So what can I do, do I need to buy a whole new monitor, get the capacitor replaced?
