Hi. I have a Sony KEP42M1S plasma TV, 42", and it works fine, but every five minutes or so, it switches off and then back on again automatically, making a clicking sound. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

get it looked at, if you keep using it then you will cause more damage.

try phoning sony direct to see if they can do a digonisc over the phone.

is it under guarantee, because it sounds like a costly problem either the transformer could be faulty or the solenoid(magnetic switch) that holds on when you operate the power switch could have a fault thats my opinion, but it could even be a printed circuit problem especially if the set is older.

it's the power transformer it's getting hotter than it should be theirfore it turns it off automatically. For saftey get it replaced or repaired before it does any mor damage or worse set's on fire…..

Is the front LED(s) flashing? This may be trying to let you know about a problem. Usually they will indicate a heat, or fan problem. Where is the set located? Is the ventilation good? These sets put off lots of heat, and MUST be properly ventilated, and away from any other sources of heat. Like over the fireplace, a big NO-NO.
