The laser technology advocates claim that the technology will allow displays with a richer, more vibrant color palette than the conventional plasma, LCD or CRT displays.
They also claim the displays will:
* be half the weight and cost of Plasma or LCD displays
* require around 25% of the power required by Plasma or LCD displays
* be very thin like Plasma and LCD displays are today
* have a very wide colour gamut
* have a 50,000 hour life

    you do realise that …
you do realise that the contrast ratio they state is based loosely on the companies own tests, anybody can say whatever contrast ratio they like, to be honest, as there is no official way to measure it.

BTW, technically, oLED could be infinity:1 as it completely turns off (AKAIK) the pixels that are black

i wonder if the laser tv,s will have the same amount of pixels like lcd screen or does, it have not more pixels than plasma??
,m mean 42 years back they had allready laser tv,s but was it hd capable? cuzz hd existed allready.
but i guess that today,s laser tv,s could do that, with save of use and will last a long time, but i hope that it will look sharp as paper, whatever the screen size!!!!!!!!

is it really smart to have a 3mm or 9mm thin tv at 100inches?
it could break under the slightest bit of stress. they would have to put like titan plate on the back to make it a bit durable.

    The only problem …
The only problem with OLED displays is the color Blue. They can’t seem to get this color to last very long. So your great OLED screen could be defect in a few years time if you are unlucky.

    Sure, OLED TVs will …
Sure, OLED TVs will most probably be better than Laser TVs. But Sony is saying they’re expecting to begin launching bigger models no earlier than 2010. I think I’ll buy my Laser TV 2008 and then buy an OLED when they arrive.

    Laser TV will kill …
Laser TV will kill OLED before it ever really takes off. Mitsubishi has a working experimental 65-inch model. At ten inches thick, it is a fatty compared to the ultra slim OLED monitors that are starting to hit the market, but it is 65-inches, which puts their puny size to shame. New technology in the pipeline, namely the “super wide angular optical engine” promises to get the thickness down to acceptable levels by the time the first commercial models roll out.

    while expensive, …
while expensive, its cheaper than a 33 thousand dollar 70 inch lcd tv which has a low responce time, and is only 60 hz, and ghosting effect. while laser dlp has a faster responce time, and is 240hz and ha s a reald 3d processor (does 3d in hardware unlike last eyars sets) i do hope they have a 73 inch at under 5,000 though. nut if its 6k i might just go with it, dunno though. 4-5 k = no problem though.
