how do i turn on subtitles when watching cable. using samsung plasma tv?

i tried turning on caption and it doesn't work for any channels. should subtitles be turned on from the cable remote instead?
i m using time warner cable
any help is appreciated

If the tv remote or on line menu doesn't work then try doing the same thing in the set up menu for the time warner cable box.
